A South Sudanese human rights organization is petitioning the national parliament over inter-clan fighting in Lakes states.

There has been clan-based fighting in the area, a situation which has left hundreds dead, and threatening the stability of the state.

Edmond Yakani, from Community Empowerment for Progress Organization, told eye radio that his organization will follow the petition with the chairperson of peace and reconciliation committee in the parliament.

He appealed to the parliament to address the killings and workout a peaceful solution.

“We’ve become concerned about the trend of insecurity going on in lake state between killing and revenge attack among our communities of lake state,” said Mr Yakani.

“I think the parliament has to do something about that.’’

Mr. Yakani said some MPs welcomed the petition.
