The Minister of Culture, Museums, and National Heritage, Hon. Sarah Nyanath Elijah Yong, noted that her ministry sees opportunities to collaborate with China on capacity building for museums and heritage conservation.
Speaking during the “Discover the Pandaland” Open Day at the Chinese Embassy on Wednesday, April 29, the Minister stated that the relationship between the nations continues to grow.
The event took place as part of the China-Africa Year of Exchanges, bringing together officials and youth to discuss the future of ties.
“The relationship between our countries continues to grow from strength to strength, grounded in respect, solidarity, and an aspiration of development,” the Minister stated.
Beyond support for museums, Minister Nyanath identified areas for cooperation.
“In the sector, we see opportunities to deepen cooperation in areas such as exchange programs, capacity building in museums and heritage, conservation, promotion of industry, and development of tourism linked to heritage,” she noted.
The Minister emphasized that these initiatives aim to strengthen the sector while fostering opportunities. By focusing on conservation and training, the Ministry intends to preserve assets while expanding the reach of South Sudan in the landscape.
Minister Nyanath concluded that these efforts are for achieving the goals of both countries.
