Police in Nimule say Military Intelligence on Wednesday, September 6, raided a high court and withdraw their colleague who was on trial for allegedly raping an 11-year-old teenager two years ago.

Major David Casemiro, Nimule Police Inspector says the soldiers invaded the court while it was about to announce a a decision that was likely to detain suspect Bol Achor in jail.

Suspect Achor was produced in court after his colleagues brought him due to pressure from the court.

Casemiro says the accused soldier was whisked away from the courtroom by his colleagues from the highway military intelligence department.

He confirmed the incident to Eye-Radio from Juba today.

“For sure, there was a soldier whose pending case of rape has taken more than two years now.

“So all this while the high court was perusing his department in charge to present him before the court for a public hearing because the soldier belongs to the SSPDF military intelligence department that are deployed on the highway.

“But most of the requests went answered until the high court returned to Torit. And again the high court ordered his leadership to present him.

“Therefore, (Wednesday) this morning the soldier was escorted by his colleagues at the court hall but after the high court’s pronouncement that he’ll be detained by the police department for tomorrow’s final ruling, his colleagues immediately invaded the court hall and forcibly evacuated the soldier from the hall and drove away. This is the information.”

Asked why there was no intervention, Casemiro the police deployed to guard the court proceeding had to back off to avoid clashes.

“Police did not question the soldiers who invaded the court in an attempt to stop further clashes because if police responded to them [Soldiers] the issue was going to be more this, so police released them.”

“Let them go. Because even if he’s taken from the court hall but still the law will still follow them. The case will not just die like that but he’ll be brought again.”
