A 35-year-old man is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in Nhial Dieu Payam, Unity state.

The Minister of Gender and Child Welfare, Lubna Abdegani, says the underage girl has been admitted at Bentiu Hospital.

She said the suspect is currently in police custody in Nhial Dieu police station.

Hon. Lubna also encourages people to report rape incidents to the authorities:

“In case of a rape incident -as a lady, you must not stay at home. Please go to the nearby police and open a case against the person who raped you, and then justice will prevail. But if you just stay at home, it will not be good for you”

This is the second reported rape incident in the area.

Last week, a 20-year-old woman was raped.

The attacker has not yet been identified.
