Women and children who have fled their villages due to fears of insecurity have arrived in Maban town, an official has said.
Timothy Mounthe, commissioner, says the people left their homes yesterday after gunmen released information that they would cross from neighboring Pakuor through the villages.
“All the citizens moved away from that place especially women and children but men are left there and they really created anxiety and fear among the citizens,” Mr Mounthe told Eye Radio
Mr Mounthe said the civilians were worried but that regular forces have deployed to provide security.
There has been aerial attacks on the area recently. Officials accused Sudan Armed Forces of the attack, an allegation they denied.
About seven people were wounded in one of the incidents a week ago.
