Lawmakers condemn Lainya killings

Members of parliament representing Lainya County in Central Equatoria State and the national parliament have condemned the recent attack on a market, that led to the killing of civilians.

On Saturday, a local official in Lainya County told Eye Radio that five people were killed, and nine others wounded when suspected armed herders shot at civilians at Limuro Trading Center.

Batali Oliver, the chairperson of Wuji Community in Lainya told Eye Radio that over three hundred households have been displaced, with more people expected to flee due to fear of further attack.

While reading a statement to reporters in Juba on Monday morning, Dusman Joyce calls for the arrest of the perpetrators and subsequent speedy trial in a competent court of law.

“We strongly condemn and protest the brutal killing of all the innocent souls killed in cold blood in Limuro trading center on Saturday 4th March 2023 at 3:00 PM,” Joyce said.

“We also demand the arrest of those behind the brutal murder of the victims and their subsequent speedy trial in a competent court of law.”
