Lakes imprisoned Parliamentarians sick

Author : | Published: Thursday, January 29, 2015

Two members of Lakes State parliament who have been in prison for three months without a trial have fallen sick.

Marik Nanga of Rumbek North and Makur Buoch of Rumbek East were arrested in October over allegations that they did not campaign for a disarmament process.

Lakes State Governor Matur Chut says the MPs have been provided with medicines in the prison.

“…we are giving them their medicines. The medicines are available. When they finish treatment then they will be sent to their families where they will go to the doctor and they are given the same medicine that they are using here. It is sent to them,” Governor Chut explained.

Matur says his government is waiting for an advice from the legal advisor on how to proceed with the case against the two MPs.
