Lakes state authorities have convened a three-day conference to discuss the issues of killings and cattle rustling in the state.

Last week, several people were killed in an inter- communal fighting between Cuei Bet and Rumbek North counties.

The conference is bringing together chiefs, youth representative, and the government officials -including members of the assembly and the executives and the commissioners.

“They are meeting to try and discuss the issue of cattle rustling between Yirol West County and members from Rumbek East County,” Marik Nanga Marik, state Minister of Information, told Eye Radio.

The conference is taking place in Aluak- luak, Yirol West County.

Over the last few months, nearly a hundred people have died in inter- communal clashes in Lakes state.

Last week, the state government organized a football tournament to encourage peaceful coexistence among the youths in the state.
