The Ministry of Health is opening up centers for cholera treatment in parts of Juba city in order to deal with the rising number of cases in residential areas.

The Director of Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response at the Ministry says they have opened one center in Gudele, and another will be opened in Gumbo today.

Dr. Othwon Thabo told Eye Radio’s Sundown Program that more centers will be opened around the city.

“There is an increasing trend of disease coming from all over the town, so we thought it would be wise to widen our intervention,” said Dr Thabo.

According to a report released by the Ministry of Health, Northern Bari Payam is the worst area hit by cholera from the 17th to the 21st of May.

The report also said that young people between the age of 20 and 34 are the most affected by the epidemic.
