Some Juba residents say lack of awareness has limited their chances of donating blood.

The South Sudan Red Cross Society says there is no enough blood in the National Blood Bank.
It is calling upon people to donate blood to save lives, but residents say most of them don’t know the procedures for donating blood.
“There were some people who refused because they thought it would be better to donate your blood to your family member or a relative,” said a resident.
The Red Cross Society says blood donors only need to fill out a questionnaire and get tested for diseases such as Hepatitis.
“This is very important for the safety of the patients. They will check your weight blood pressure, temperature, and hemoglobin level,” said Joseph Lukak, branch director for Central Equatoria State.
Mr Luaka says patients don’t suffer any side effects after the donation.
The remarks come ahead of the World Blood Donor Day, which is marked annually on June 14 to encourage people to donate blood and save lives.
But South Sudan is marking the day on Tuesday at the National Blood Transfusion Service in Juba.
