Two people have been killed in a revenge attack in Cueibet County, Lakes Minister of Information has told Eye Radio.

The fighting erupted yesterday and continued this morning in remote villages of the county, where there is no mobile network coverage.

Dhieu Wol says one community attacked the other to avenge a previous attack.

“It was in June last year [when] people from one Payam section in Cueibet County fought. Two people were killed from that section and then they settled the case,” Mr Wol described.

“But I think some people begun to instigate [the violence]……that they did not take revenge such that they compensate their people.

“These angered the youth and they began to attack their opponents.”

Earlier today, the Commissioner of the County told Eye Radio that the fighting was still ongoing.

But Mr. Dhieu said security forces were deployed in the area to restore peace.​
