The King of Shilluk, Reth Kuong Dak, met with President Salva Kiir in Juba today and discussed ways of restoring peace in Malakal.

Last week, fighting erupted within government forces in the Upper Nile State capital.

Presidential Secretary, Ateny Wek Ateny, told Eye Radio that the King has assured the President that calm has returned to the town.

“Majority of what the king has discussed with the president are security matters that do not need to be shared with the public until the fruit of it comes out,” Mr Ateny told Eye Radio.

The fighting started between body guards of Governor Simon Kun and those of General Johnson Olony and lasted three days.

Officials from both sides said the body guards disagreed over the usage of a road leading to the main hospital. Two people were killed in the incident.
