Kiir urges officials to serve with integrity and foster public welfare

President Salva Kiir urged newly sworn-in ministers and security heads at the State House on Thursday to bear allegiance to the Republic of South Sudan and foster the welfare of its people.

According to a statement from the Office of the President on April 30, President Kiir directed the officials to discharge their duties with integrity and professionalism. He emphasized that the appointees must remain faithful to their oath of office and prioritize national development in their respective roles.

The President further called on the officials to uphold discipline and accountability, noting that cooperation among government institutions is essential to strengthening stability and improving service delivery across the country.

The officials sworn in include Dr. James Pitia Morgan as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Dr. Labanya Margaret Mathya Ugila as Minister of Trade and Industry; and Atong Kuol Manyang as Minister of Youth and Sports.

Also sworn in was Justin Monyping Ater as Commissioner of the Human Rights Commission, who pledged to exercise the powers vested in him by the South Sudan Human Rights Commission Act with integrity and dignity.

In the security sector, Gen. Akec Tong Aleu took oath as Director General of the Internal Security Bureau (ISB) of the National Security Service, while Lt. Gen. Napoleon Adok Gai was sworn in as Deputy Director General for Finance and Administration, ISB. The officials affirmed their commitment to protect and uphold the Constitution and respect the rule of law.

Addressing the appointees, President Kiir urged them to carry out duties in accordance with the law. He called on officials to uphold professionalism, discipline, and accountability in the execution of responsibilities.

The President stressed the need for teamwork among institutions, noting that cooperation among agencies is essential to strengthening stability and improving service delivery to the people.
