President Salva Kiir reshuffled officials in Upper Nile State and Western Equatoria State, among whom is Nzara County Commissioner, who was suspended for allegedly overstaying in Juba.

In Republic Decrees read on State television SSBC on Friday evening, Kiir fired Upper Nile State Minister of Labor and Public Service Thon Deng Kur and appointed Emmanuel Daniel Ayuel in his place.

In another decree, Kiir sacked Western Equatoria State Deputy Chairperson Human Rights Commission, Amos Moris, and replaced him with Simon Ali Charles.

Kiir also removed Nzara County commissioner Zizi Richard Paulino and appointed Lino Koko Fatha as the new commissioner.

Mr Richard was suspended by Governor Alfred Futuyo in August 2023 over long absenteeism from work, but Zizi claims he had come to Juba for treatment after which he was stuck in the capital over lack of transport fare.

Futuyo’s spokesman, Alex Digi said Commissioner Richard was ordered to hold back from his position after the people of Nzara complained that the area had been without a functioning local government.

Still in Western Equatoria, President Kiir revoked the appointment of lawmakers Simon Peter Noro and John Fazza Albino and replace them with Gabrial Tambora and John Norbeni.
