President Salva Kiir on Thursday directed the Ministry of Finance to pay February and March salary arrears and allowances to all Public Universities based on the current salary scale, the presidential press unit reported.
Kiir made the resolution following a meeting with the Ministers of Higher Education, and Finance.
In a statement, Higher Education Minister Gabriel Changson Chang said he raised with the President the non-payment of the unpaid salary arrears to academic and non-academic staff.
Concerning the meeting, the Minister of Finance, Dier Tong Ngor said “They had a fruitful meeting and also had a lengthy discussion on the recent issue of unpaid arrears to the Public Universities.”
According to him, ” President Kiir directed the Ministry of Finance to pay February and March salary arrears and allowances to all Public Universities based on the current salary scale.”
