South Sudan and Sudan have agreed to soon hold a meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, before they start the demarcation of border between the countries.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb Mawien Makol, says delegations from the two countries discussed in Khartoum last week the matter, but they could not reach an agreement on technical issues in demarcating the border.

Amb Mawien told Eye Radio that there is a need to finalize the border demarcation process to reduce clashes within the borderline between the two countries.

“This is part of the agreement; they’ve to sit regularly so that they finally come up with a conclusion to demarcate the border,” he said.

At independence in 2011, the South Sudan’s borderline with the Sudan was still not properly demarcated.

Although some areas were agreed upon, the physical demarcation was not done.
