The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission is today meeting with the government, the opposition, and the Former Political Detainees to select ministers for the interim government of national unity to be formed.

The move is in line with the power-sharing provision in the peace agreement signed in August.

Each of the three groups will be represented in the interim government.

The peace agreement stipulates that the ministries shall be grouped in three categories; the governance cluster, with 10 ministries, the economic cluster, with 13, and the service delivery cluster, with 7 ministries.

According to the implementation calendar issued by the JMEC mid this month, the cabinet shall constitute 16 ministries from the government, 10 from the SPLM in opposition, and 2 from the Former Political Detainees.

It states the other political parties will get 2 ministerial positions.

The Chairperson of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission, Festus Mogae yesterday said he would also meet with the key institutions to discuss other matters in the implementation process.
