The Juba City Council launched a cleaning campaign on Saturday in the Gudele Residential Area in a bid to alleviate garbage menace mainly along roadsides.

Mayor Flora Gabriel said the City Council is implementing Governor Emmanuel Adil’s directive to keep the city clean and rehabilitate streets.

She encourages Gudele residents to ensure that the residential area is wiped clean of trash as the rainy season approaches.

“We have a message from the governor of Central Equatoria State Emmanuel Adil Anthony. He wants Juba to be clean this is his directives he told us to work, day and night, to clean Juba,” she told the media.

“I am sure if not you we will not be able to clean Juba. I want you to tell my mothers and sisters, rain is coming and I want you to stand steel to clean the city.”

Mayor Flora further called on Gudele chiefs to introduce mechanism to address the issues of gang groups in the residential areas.

“Area chiefs, we have niggas. We have to stand strong with our children, otherwise our future will not be there, we will not have a future generation to stand here. Chiefs stand steel and introduce mechanisms to talk to these children.”
