Inter-clan clashes leave 7 dead in Terekeka

A Commissioner from Central Equatoria says seven people have been killed in an inter-communal fighting.

The clashes escalated after a fight between two men. The cause of the fighting between the two men is unclear.

Jacob Gore says the three-day attacks occurred in Terekeka County. 15 people were wounded and 800 homes have been destroyed.

The fighting broke out between the Nykapo and Tokarei clans.

“Another problem we have here is that civilians have a big number of guns in their hands but we don’t know where these guns are coming from….and they’re all new,” Commissioner Gore told Eye Radio.

Mr. Gore says security forces are controlling the town. And that the county authorities and chiefs are being consulted to find a permanent solution.
