The National Legislative Assembly is urging the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to expedite the formation of the Media Authority and the Broadcasting Corporation.

Paul Yoane Bonjo, Member of Information Committee, says the Minister of Information should bring qualified journalists to these bodies in order to enable the people of South Sudan have access to quality information.

“The two institutions should not be made as a dumping ground,” Hon Bonjo said.

He was speaking during a celebration in Juba to mark the International Day to end impunity against journalists.

Hon Bonjo also urged journalists in South Sudan to do their work professionally, guided by journalistic code of ethics.
