The government says it will cater for the accommodation despite its financial challenges.

On Thursday, the Troika and the European Union say they will end accommodating the 240 members of the advance team in hotels in Juba today.

“Despite the severe financial constraints under which the government of the Republic of South Sudan is currently operating, it shall strive to cater for accomodattion and needs of the SPLM/A-IO advance team,” government chief negotiator Nhial Deng Nhial said in a statement.

“There is no going back to war. We shall all work for peace; build trust and confidence among the parties and the citizens of the Republic of South Sudan,” he said.

Meanwhile, 38 members of the team, who traveled to Pagak early this week for consultation with Dr Riek Machar, are expected in Juba today.

They left after a deadlock ensued over the creation of more states.

They say they want the decision revoked but the government says it is irreversible.

This disagreement has led to a delay in the formation of the national unity government, which should have been in place today according to the timetable of JMEC.

“Their absence should not be a cause for alarm,” Nhial Deng Nhial, government chief negotiator, told the media on Thursday.

“Upon their return, the government shall work jointly with them for the implementation of the agreement.”
