The spokesperson of the National Legislative Assembly says parliament did not hold its sitting on Monday due to a shortage of fuel.

Speaking to Eye Radio this afternoon, Oliver Mori Benjamin said administrative challenges within parliament led to the suspension of the session. He explained that the parliamentary administration is working to secure fuel for the power generator to resume operations.

The suspension occurs amid a nationwide increase in fuel prices.

Hon Mori stated that efforts are underway to secure funds to purchase fuel. He confirmed that operations will resume as soon as fuel becomes available, identifying the lack of fuel as the primary obstacle to the scheduled sitting.

“Actually, there was no sitting scheduled for today because of certain administrative issues, and we are trying to address the power outage situation,” Mori said. “As soon as fuel is made available, operations will resume. Fuel is the main problem as we speak, and people are now trying to find fuel.”
