Former Executive Director in the Office of the President, James Deng Wal has graduated with a Master’s Degree in business administration at the International Institute of Peace in Ethiopia.

Following his sacking by President Kiir in May 2023, Deng shifted focus to pursuing his studies and has now attained academic honors.

“I cannot stress enough the importance of Education and its impact in our society including by enhancing social harmony, augmenting employable and securing informed citizens,” Deng said after the graduation held on Saturday in Addis Ababa.

The Institute awarded Master’s Degrees to numerous graduates, including James Deng Wal, a former Executive Director in the Office of the President, who received a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Deng was appointed to the position in 2019, in a decree that also appointed other officials including Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin as Special Envoy.

In March 2023, Deng was confirmed to the membership of the SPLM National Liberation Council along with 16 other political figures.
