A family in Yambio is demanding the arrest of a fire brigade officer who allegedly shot and injured a 23-year-old mentally ill lady.

Gisma Micheal was shot on Wednesday at 3:00 am in Bazungua payam in Yambio County, Western Equatoria State.

Micheal Samson who is the father of the lady told Eye Radio that his daughter was shot in the back while she was visiting the mother.

She was operated on Wednesday, September 6.

The motive of the shooting is unclear, but Michael alleges that the suspected officer is still at large despite the family opening a police case.

When contacted, the police commissioner said he was too busy to comment on the matter.
