The Eastern Equatoria state government has purchased new trucks to help collect waste from residential areas in a bid to keep the towns clean.
The state Minister of Infrastructure said the project will also protect residents from diseases as the rainy season continues.
Hassan Urbano told Eye Radio that the 4 trucks will be distributed to Torit, Nimule and Kapoeta town municipalities.
He said the municipal authorities are expected to pay some money for the purchase of more trucks.
“They [municipalities] should pay 10,000 pounds per 3 months so that we accumulate that money and bring another [lorry],” said Mr Urbano.
The state government purchased four trucks for the first time to launch the “Keep Towns Clean” project.
