Several civilians from Duk Counties have been displaced by fighting between government and the SPLA-in Opposition forces in Jonglei state.

There was an attack on the area on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Most of the civilians have sought refuge in Bor town, where there is a presence of the government and the Ugandan forces.

Bor town Mayor told Eye Radio that a large number of civilians from Duk County were displaced over the weekend.

“Some of the people have come to Bor and some have crossed the river, and some are in Twic East,” said Mayor Nhial.

Last week, Twic East County Commissioner, Dau Akoi told Eye Radio that the government’s forces were providing protection to people have sought shelter in his county.

He said there were no reports of clashes in Twic East between government forces and the SPLA-in Opposition forces.

“The number of the people who fled [Duk] is still being established by the RRC, and they are being taken good care of by our humanitarian agencies.”
