The Buya Community in Eastern Equatoria has petitioned the State Governor, Louis Lobong Lojore to split Budi County into two separate administrative areas.

Members of Buya community claimed that they are being targeted by members of other communities, that is why they want a separate administrative area.

The State Governor, Louis Lobong, says the demand of the Buya Community to have a separate administration was triggered by the shooting at the house of the former Commissioner of Budy.

“…this was a result of the shooting of the former commissioner who happened to be a Buya in Chukudum. Therefore the Buya feel that they are not wanted. Before that they had also requested a county of their own, and I think it is now becoming very difficult even with the new commissioner to administer them.” He said.

Governor Lobong urged the Buya Community to cooperate with the Commissioner of Budy County, Sam Felix Makuja, while his office continues to study the possibility of dividing the county.

Commissioner Makuja says the demand of the Buya Community has been taken into consideration, and the final solution will come from the Governor.

“As soon as possible when I get to the headquarters, I will make sure that the process starts. I will make sure that the signatures are collected from those having an idea of having a separate administration and therein, I will give my recommendation and forward it to the governor for the further action.” Makuja said.
