The Duk Community has called on the government of Jonglei to suspend two state ministers from taking oath of office.

They say the ministers were not on a proposed list they presented to the governor.

They include the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mayen Ngor Atem and Minister of Information, Yath Awan.

The Chairperson of Duk community, Abuot Awan Gaidit, says the community policy was to nominate its representatives.

“Those who join the government on their own are not our representatives,” said Mr Awan, who could not reveal the names of their nominees.

However, Jonglei State Secretary General Mawut Achiek Guarak says the state government has not received any formal document on the matter.

“The community of Duk has not informed us that they will not allow their constitutional post holders to take oath,” Mr Guarak told Eye Radio.

Last week, Governor Philip Aguer nominated 5 ministers, advisors and a chairperson of state commissions.

They are expected to be sworn in tomorrow.
