The United Nations Mission in South Sudan says both the government and the SPLM-SPLA In Opposition have not held anyone accountable for two separate attacks on civilians in Bentiu and Bor nine months ago.

A 33-page report released today by the human rights division of UNMISS says the SPLM in Opposition forces killed civilians when they took control of Bentiu in April.

It says a mob of armed men then killed dozens of people in an attack on the UN camp in Bor after the Bentiu incident.

The report says that at least ‘353 civilians were killed and another 250 wounded in the two attacks’.

At least 306 civilians were deliberately targeted and killed in Bentiu and 47 others were killed in the mob attack on the UN camp in Bor.

UNMISS calls on both parties to undertake comprehensive and credible investigations into the alleged violations and hold perpetrators to account.
