A local civil society organization has called for disarmament of civilians after the end of the conflict in order to achieve lasting peace.

The Dialogue and Research Initiative says this is meant to ensure the country is free from illegal possession of arms.

The Executive Director of the organization, Gordon Lam, says it is the collective responsibility of every citizen to maintain stability in the country.

“It’s our collective responsibilities to ensure that the security is maintained in the country,” Mr Lam said.

Mr. Lam called on the leaders of the warring party to sign a final peace agreement next week.
