Chollo Queen Bareth Kwaci-kwan dies at 68. (-)

Queen Bareth Kwacikwan, the first wife of reigning Collo King Reth Kwongo, has passed away in the Ugandan Capital, Kampala at the age of 68 years, the royal family spokesperson said.

Othom Rago Ajak confirmed in an interview with Eye Radio that Queen Kwacikwan succumbed to a short illness on Saturday.

Mr. Rago said arrangements are ongoing to fly the fallen queen to Juba on Tuesday, after which she will be taken to Malakal town for burial.

“On Saturday in the evening, the elderly wife of His Majesty Reth Kwango Dak passed on in Kampala, so the arrangements have been made to bring the body to South Sudan,” he said.

“The body may be brought tomorrow and on Thursday will be taken to Malakal for burial, she was married 1974 before she was 20 years old.”

Late Queen Kwacikwan is survived by 8 children, including four sons and four daughters.

The Collo or Shilluk Kingdom, dominated by the Shilluk people, is located along the banks of the White Nile in South Sudan’s Upper Nile State.

The kingdom was founded around the 15th century and its capital and royal residence are in Fashoda County.
