The Central Equatoria State Secretariat has issued a statement of condolence following the passing of Erasto Kenyi Gale, who served as Commissioner of Kajo-Keji County for five years.
Detail surrounding the death remains unclear, local FM, Jambita reported that the former Commissioner passed on on the night of 30th March, 2026 in Uganda.
In a statement on Wednesday, Paulino Lukudu Obede, Acting Governor of Central Equatoria, extended sympathies on behalf of the State Government to the family, friends, and the Kajo-Keji community.
“During his tenure, Commissioner Kenyi contributed to promoting peace and unity in Kajo-Keji, facilitating the return of displaced residents, and supporting community reconciliation,” the Acting Governor said.
Hon. Kenyi was succeeded on 8th August 2024 by Phanuel Dumo, following a presidential decree that replaced him as Commissioner of Kajo-Keji County.
Dumo’s appointment replaced an SPLM-IO nominee, while in separate decrees, other state officials across Central Equatoria, Lakes, Jonglei, and Western Equatoria were also relieved of their positions.
The State Secretariat recognized Kenyi’s leadership for stabilizing Kajo-Keji County and advancing local development initiatives.
“His contributions to the county and the state will be remembered,” the Acting Governor added.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” concluded Hon. Lukudu.
