CENTRAL EQUATORIAL CABINET MEETING - COURTESY OF CES PU

The Central Equatoria State Council of Ministers has approved a plan to map recreational centres and playgrounds in Juba as part of efforts to promote sporting activities.

According to a post on the Facebook page of the Office of the Governor, the decision was reached during a council meeting chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Thursday.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Bush Buse, presented the memorandum, which focuses on reviewing the status of playgrounds and recreational spaces within Juba County and the Juba City Council.

The council directed the minister to carry out the exercise in coordination with the State Ministry of Housing, Land and Public Utilities, the Juba County Commissioner and the Mayor of Juba City Council.

Officials said the findings of the mapping exercise are expected to be submitted within three weeks.

The council also reviewed the general security situation across the state, which it said remains calm.

Authorities noted that peace initiatives are ongoing to strengthen coexistence among communities following the recent Rokon peace conference.
