CEPO asks gov’t to tackle insecurity

Author : | Published: Thursday, May 12, 2016

A civil society group has urged the transitional government to urgently improve security in the country.

The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization says violent incidents are reported on daily and weekly basis in various states.

Executive Director Edmond Yakani says there is a need for the government to put an end to the rampant insecurity in different states.

“Right now, we are losing lives of thousands of citizens in states like Wau State. The same thing is happening in Yei, Morobo and Kajo-Keji,” Mr Yakani told Eye Radio.

“And when this is reported, they start ….. threatening the media not to talk about it—that these are issues untouchable.”

On Sunday, the First Vice President, Dr Riek Machar, told worshipers in a church in Juba that the priority of the newly established government is to combat insecurity all over the whole country.
