The government of Central Equatoria State says it is planning to construct modern housing in Juba in partnership with Ethiopia’s Federal Housing Corporation.

Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony discussed the proposed cooperation yesterday during a meeting with a high-level Ethiopian delegation led by the Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Corporation, Rashad Kemal.

According to state authorities, the delegation is in Juba to share experiences and assess the possibility of replicating Ethiopia’s modern housing models in South Sudan’s capital.

During Friday’s meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fast-tracking a twinning agreement expected to lead to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on housing development projects in Juba.

Governor Adil said the partnership could help address housing challenges in the city and support broader urban development through knowledge exchange and technical cooperation.

In a related development, the governor congratulated Ethiopia on the successful conduct of its recent elections, saying South Sudan could learn from Ethiopia’s experience as the country prepares for its general elections scheduled for December 2026.

Following the meeting, Governor Adil directed the Ethiopian delegation to conduct a city-wide assessment of proposed housing and infrastructure sites in and around Juba.

The tour was led by Juba City Council Mayor Christopher Sarafino Wani alongside officials from relevant government institutions to identify potential locations for future housing and infrastructure projects.
