Several registered political parties have expressed their readiness to participate in South Sudan’s first scheduled general elections, set for December 2026.

The announcement comes as the Political Parties Council has set June 30, 2026, as the deadline for the registration of political parties.

Among the parties confirming their preparedness are the Generation Political Party, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), and the South Sudan National Labour Party, all of which are registered with the Political Parties Council.

Speaking during a capacity-building training organized by the Council in Juba on Monday, Halima Isahg, a representative of the Generation Political Party, said her party is fully prepared for the upcoming polls.

“We as generations party are prepares for election, we are ready.”

The South Sudan National Labour Party also expressed confidence in its readiness. Its representative, Robert Justin Otto, said the party has already registered members across the country’s ten states and three administrative areas and finalized its manifesto.

“My party is full prepared and advanced, we already registered all our members in the ten states and three administrative areas, we set our manifesto and everything is in place.”

Meanwhile, Paulino Martin, representing the SPLM, said the ruling party is fully geared toward the electoral process and looks forward to the elections.

“As SPLM we are forward and hoping for the elections this year.”

The parties’ remarks came during a training session aimed at strengthening the capacity of political parties ahead of the electoral process.

South Sudan is expected to hold its first scheduled elections in December 2026, a key milestone in the country’s democratic transition.
