Author : | Published: Friday, September 11, 2015

A workshop on ceasefire and transitional security for South Sudan is expected to begin in Addis Ababa tomorrow, according to IGAD.

The workshop will be attended by military generals from the government and the SPLM in Opposition forces.

IGAD mediators initially scheduled the workshop for last week, but it was postponed on the request of the SPLM in Opposition.

According to the program seen by Eye Radio, participants from the two warring parties will discuss cessation of hostilities and disengagement of forces.

They are also expected to discuss the establishment of demilitarized zones, withdrawal of foreign forces, disarmament of non-state actors and the ceasefire monitoring mechanism.

Both sides have indicated that each will be sending 11 participants to the workshop, but are yet to say whether their delegates have left for Addis Ababa.
