The SPLM in Opposition says the last batch of its security forces will arrive in Juba today.

They are part of 1,370 troops required in Juba as part of transitional security arrangements for the capital before the return of Dr Riek Machar.

On Thursday, General Gordon Koang Chol, who leads the opposition in the Joint Military Ceasefire Commission, visited the site of their forces in Jebel Kujur.

The spokesman of the advance team in Juba, William Ezekiel, says the last batch of the security force is coming ahead of another team of officials led by their deputy chairman, General Lado Gore.

“We want to assure the public that this peace agreement, especially this issue of ceasefire and other military arrangements in regards to demilitarization of Juba and arrival of SPLA-IO forces in Juba are now going according to schedules,” Mr Ezekiel told Eye Radio.

Mr Ezekiel said more than 900 of the opposition troops that are required before Dr Riek returns to Juba have already been transported to the capital.

Dr Riek Machar has confirmed that he is coming to Juba on 18th of this month to take up his position as the First Vice President.
