A 35-year old man allegedly killed himself in a Kajo-Keji prison yesterday.

The man was arrested on the Saturday for allegedly stealing bananas and cabbages in Kajo-Keji.

Speaking to Eye Radio, Kajo-Keji police administrator, Wani Cirilo said the man who has only been identified as Charles was brought to the prison by his relatives after being caught stealing.

“He was accused of stealing cabbages and bananas,” said Mr. Cirilo. “He was supposed to be brought before the court today because he was arrested on the 7th, then yesterday, he committed suicide.”

“The reason is not clear because he was inside and people didn’t realize. When people open the door, he found him dead.”

Wani Cirilo said the deceased had a police record for previous counts of theft.
