AWERIAL: IDPS RUN OUT OF CLEAN DRINKING WATER

Author : | Published: Wednesday, August 20, 2014

The IDPs living in Site 2 in Mingkaman, Awerial, say they have run short of drinking water since the solar panels failed to generate water from the borehole.

Residents blame UNICEF for setting up a solar system to generate water instead of a hand pump.

One of the residents’ representatives, Mayen Kuol, told Mingkaman 100 FM that they have run short of water because of lack of sunshine to heat the solar panels that allow the movement of water to the water tap.

In response, the UNICEF WASH Officer, Samuel Madul Anyieth, says they will provide generators to pump water in two days’ time.

Hundreds of IDPs and members of the host community have already settled in New site.
