The girl whose eyes were gouged by her father in Warrap State has regained sight in one eye after undergoing treatment at German-Saudi Hospital in Egypt.

Akuot Agany was reportedly attacked by her father who damaged her eyes over unclear reasons, in April this year.

The teenager was later offered treatment by businesswoman Sarah Enock, who supported her transfer from Wau to Juba and then to Cairo.

The businesswoman who paid for her treatment said the girl is back from Egypt after undergoing eye surgeries but her right eye was found to be totally damaged.

Sarah explained the girl’s condition in an interview with Eye Radio on Tuesday.

“We came to Cairo and went directly to the German Saudi hospital the first examination showed that there was a need for urgent surgical intervention.”

“The left eye underwent three surgeries after every 20 days, and the other eye went through one surgery. As you have seen in social media, it had a serious wound they tried to return and treat the eye but the doctors said there is hope for the other eye.”

The well-wisher also pointed out that Akuot’s right eye was removed and replaced with len after it was found damaged.

She said the survivor will have to undergo another follow-up treatment after finishing the first level of surgery.

“There is another level of treatment now we finished the first step of the treatment with the four surgeries and the other damaged eye was removed and she was given lenses.”

She said the artificial len was not implanted to recover the eye sight but to balance the eye socket and enhance her look.
