The leader of Minority in the National Assembly says IGAD mediators should include his political party, the SPLM-DC, as a signatory to the peace agreement.

Onyoti Adigo Nyikwec says the SPLM-DC is an official opposition in parliament and should be part of the deal.

He told Eye Radio that such a move will ensure the transitional government is united without any more opposition.

“Without them signing, it means that the implementation that will come in later on, they should be out. But we are saying that they will be made to sign so that the government will be formed, which will be the government of national unity. Then there will be no opposition any longer,” Onyoti said.

“It is the people now of South Sudan working together for the benefit of our people who are now suffering; people suffering from hunger; people suffering from displacement.”

The national legislature adopted the deal yesterday.
