A Saudi-based company is planning to establish a factory that will be manufacturing cooking oil in South Sudan.

Currently, South Sudan consumes oil from the neighboring countries of Uganda and Kenya.

The Zubaida Company is expecting to deliver “more than 7,000 18-liter jerry cans” of edible oil per day.

It will also employ a number of South Sudanese nationals.

Esbar El-Sheikh, head of the Board of Directors for the company currently based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said the company has reached a deal with the South Sudan Ministry of Agriculture to establish its branch here.

El-Sheikh added that their investment will further include tea and coffee production.

“It will also enter the agricultural sector with interest in specific crops such as encouraging tea and coffee cultivation in the southern part of South Sudan,” he told reporters in Juba after meeting with government officials on Thursday.

Once established, which is expected to take place in the near future, the Zubaida Company also plans on investing in Sunflower, sesame and gum Arabic business.
