At least six people have been wounded by a bombing attack in Upper Nile State, the SPLA has said.

SPLA spokesman Col Philip Aguer says the aircraft came from the direction of Sudan.

The SPLA said suspected Sudanese military jets carried out the raid in Maban County last evening

Commissioner Timothy Gewe said more people were wounded and that all the victims were civilians.

“It was in the area called Koor-Tumbak. Seven people have been wounded,” Mr Gewe told Eye Radio.

“We passed information to our government to take care of our people or ask the northern government why they are bombarding our areas.”

The attack comes a week after President Salva Kiir visited Khartoum to meet his Sudanese counterpart, Omar al-Bashir, to discuss the implementation of the cooperation agreements.

The Charge de Affairs in the Sudanese embassy, Majdi Ahmed Mofadil, in Juba says it has not received any information on the bombing.

Sudan is looking forward to good relations between the two countries.

“We want to assure….that the republic of Sudan is looking for good relations with the sister country of South Sudan as a strategic neighbor and to enter a strategic partnership,” said Amb Mofadil.

A similar bombing was reported more than a week ago in Raja County in Western Bahr el-Ghazal State.
