More than 6,000 people who were displaced in the current conflict have returned to their homes since November, the he Minister of Information in Unity State has said.

Peter Makuth says the returnees have settled in Rubkona County and the state capital, Bentiu.

“There is a large number of populations who returned to Dir district, the same thing in Khalibalek area and Engas,” said Mr Makuth.

Mr. Makuth said the security situation is stable in the area and urged the displaced to return to their homes.

However, a report by the UN Office Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said the situation in Rubkona and Bentiu was tense and unpredictable due to fear of fighting two weeks ago.
