Seven people have been killed by floods in the last three days, authorities in Warrap have said.

They drowned in flood water in Tonj-South and Tonj-North. Amongst the dead, three were children and one police officer.

The Deputy Governor of the State, Aketch Tong Aleu, says heavy rains that caused flooding also displaced residents of 12 villages in two counties.

Mr. Tong told Eye Radio’s Sundown program that many houses have collapsed as a result of flooding.

“The twelve villages are very big villages in the areas that are affected by the floods and they moved now to different areas; they left their houses.”

Mr. Tong appealed to humanitarian agencies to help rescue those who have been affected by the floods.

There have been cases of drowning in the country. About six people drowned in flood water in Magwi County recently.
