Random gunfire broke out this evening in Wau, the capital of Western Bhar al-Ghazal State.

The deputy governor of the state, Zakaria Joseph, said the shooting resulted from a fight between two clans in the town.

He says police forces were immediately deployed to maintain security.

“This was in Suk Hajer. Like 14 bullets were shot just to separate this problem. So it was just a few bullets to separate people who were making problem.” He said.

Meanwhile, MPs in the state have impeached the speaker of the assembly, Andiria Mayar, accusing him negligence.

John Mario is one of the MPs in support of the impeachment.

“The Speaker is always absent from his duties. And when he is absent he is not also authorizing the deputy speaker such that the deputy speaker can finish other work.” He said. Adding that; “ We have lots of the work on the table of the clerk which is not done because the speaker is always absent.”

However, Honorable Peter Opio says the move was a violation of the assembly regulations.

“I can’t say this is an impeachment, I will call it a coup. The procedure that has happened is not the right procedure. So am saying it is not the right way a parliament should operate.” He said.
