Cluster Bomb destruction

The spokesperson for the government delegation to South Sudan in the talks in Addis Ababa, Michael Makuei has denied reports of the use of cluster bombs in South Sudan

In an exclusive interview with Eye Radio, Michael Makuei said the reports are complete fabrications.

“We don’t have such type of weapons in South Sudan so that we use them against anyone.  I would not even say the rebels have been using it because we would have also felt it.”

According to Human Rights Watch, UN experts found remnants of  cluster bombs, which are banned by an international treaty, in the week of February 7, 2014, near the town of Bor, in an area not known to be contaminated by these munitions prior to mid-December 2013.
