The Governor of Western Equatoria State has dismissed media reports that he was prevented by security forces from returning to Yambio on Saturday.

Some media houses had reported that security operatives blocked Governor Joseph Bakosoro from leaving Juba until further notice.

Mr Bakosoro had boarded the plane when the men asked him to go back for a meeting between government officials and the President.

He said the approach by security forces might have caused suspension that he was stopped from going back to his state capital, Yambio.

“Those people who stood around didn’t understand exactly why I was told to return,” Mr Bakosoro told Eye Radio.

“But probably, the approach was not conducive to the public, and that is why they came up with these rumors.”

Governor Bakasoro said will travel to Yambio tomorrow.
