Western embassies in Juba have condemned the deadly ambush on a humanitarian convoy in Duk County, Jonglei State, and called for those responsible to be held accountable.
In a joint statement issued today, the Embassies of Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Delegation of the European Union condemned the attack on humanitarian workers from the John Dau Foundation and urged all parties to respect and protect humanitarian personnel and assets.
The statement stressed that humanitarian workers must never be targeted during conflict.
On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the Governor of Jonglei State, Dr. Riek Gai Kok, also condemned the ambush, which left at least 17 people dead and nine others injured.
